Winter is an extreme season, and due to its harsh conditions it can get extremely expensive too (even if you live in the warm south). However, keeping cozy while still keeping your wallet full IS possible:

1. Buy Winter Clothes Before Winter: In the summertime, clothing stores have great deals on winter garb. Even now, the fashion industry is already prepping for spring, so you’ll find great deals on winter wear at all your favorite stores.
2. Out With the Old, in With the New: Consignment stores often buy gently used items from customers, allowing you to trade in and trade up. You’ll most likely receive store credit, but these shops have great finds at great prices. Anybody with a passion for fashion can benefit from this.
3. Consider your climate: If you live in Florida, California, Texas and the like, you won’t need a down coat and full face mask. Just stock up on a few warm sweaters and light coats to lighten the cost.
4. Make Your Clothes More Versatile: Wear your summertime clothes all year round!  Items like tank tops and t-shirts can keep you warm by layering under a long sleeved top.
5. Mix & Match: Stock up on basics like leggings and cotton long sleeve shirts in solid, versatile colors to wear and pair all winter long. Stores like Old Navy and T.J. Maxx carry oh-so-cute basics at great prices.

Ever find the cutest outfit ever in life? The color is to die for and it makes you look 10 pounds lighter? But sigh it’s just too much and it’s the first of the month… bill paying time. Don’t fret, wait a few weeks and buy it on a Thursday evening.

Why? After an item lingers in stores a month or so, retailers start dropping its price to get it out the door. In fact, try doing all your clothes shopping on Thursday evenings. There’s always something on sale – or better yet clearance – from the month before. Hitting the mall on weekdays means you’ll get a better selection. You’ll only get picked-over stuff on the weekend because the stores don’t have time to restock. By Thursday, most of the weekend sales have begun, but everything available is out there for you to check out.
